Investing in young people is always a smart move
At CommonWealth One, we believe academic achievement is an important stepping stone toward career success. We put our money where our hearts are, awarding $13,500 in scholarships each year.
Making college more affordable for the best and the brightest
It doesn't take a genius to know how expensive higher education is these days. Our goal is make sure top students have the financial resources they need to reach their academic potential. For more than two decades, we've been awarding scholarships to some of the region's exceptional scholars.
These scholarships are open to graduating seniors from Alexandria City High School who plan to enroll full time (minimum 15 credits per semester) in an accredited college, career or technical school. Two scholarships are awarded – The Charlotte Cash Academy of Finance Scholarship and The Charlotte Cash Financial Capability Scholarship.
The application deadline for this scholarship has passed for the 2024-2025 school year.
This $2,500 scholarship is open to graduating seniors attending a Harrisonburg/Rockingham county area high school who plan to enroll full time (minimum 15 credits per semester) in an accredited college, career or technical school.

We award two $2,500 Kathryn R. Coleman Scholarships - the Financial Capability Scholarship Award and the Community Leader Scholarship Award. These scholarships are open to all CommonWealth One members.

Applications for the Kathryn R. Coleman and Harrisonburg-Rockingham County High School scholarships are evaluated by a committee, with attention paid to:
- An essay
- Extracurricular activities
- Community involvement
- Honors/awards
- Employment/internships
- Academic excellence and achievement
- Must be a member of CommonWealth One
- Must be the primary member on your own account
- Account must be in good standing
- Must be a graduating high school senior or college/university student attending a fully accredited college, university, or other institution of higher learning
- The 2023 Academy of Finance Scholarship recipient was Alexis Colton. Alexis is attending James Madison University, pursuing a degree in Hospitality Management.
- The 2023 Alexandria City School Scholarship recipient was Cameron Beaujon.
- The 2024 Harrisonburg-Rockingham County High School Scholarship recipient was Elizabeth Smith who is pursuing a degree in Biology at Bridgewater College.
- The 2024 Kathryn R. Coleman Financial Capability Scholarship recipient was Emma Myers who is pursuing a degree in Veterinary Technology at Blue Ridge Community College.
- The 2024 Kathryn R. Coleman Community Leader Scholarship recipient was Melissa Bohl who is pursuing a Bachelor of Individualized Studies in Small Business Management & Entrepreneurship and Family & Consumer Sciences at James Madison University.
